A family team raised on honesty and pride in its craft
The door and window trade perhaps doesn’t immediately conjure up words like craftsmanship, work ethic and value for money. But look into our world and you’ll see these are precisely what make us stand out from our replacement-hungry rivals.
Window Pains Stroud started as a family business, and our fitting and installation skills have been proudly passed from father to son over the years. But – more importantly – so have our values.
Of course, these days we supply the most advanced, energy-efficient products from big-name brands – aluminium bifolds from Origin, composite doors from Vista, Solidor and Rockdor, windows from Eurocell - and many more.
But when it comes to doing business, we’re old school. Quality, reputation and doing the right thing by the customer - not selling them a replacement window or door when we can repair or recycle the lock instead, for example - are the only things that make us truly proud!
Expert fitting and installation, with costs kept low
If you’ve seen the typically aggressive advertising for double-glazing doors and windows in the media, ask yourself one thing: how much did it cost them?
We’re craftsmen, not ad men. Our fitting and installation costs won’t go through the conservatory roof owing to expensive publicity – and that’s because we don’t need any.
Instead, we impress by the quality of the items we deliver – energy-efficient, secure, easy to clean, noiseproof – by our professionalism, and by the personal touch.
And we know that because satisfied customers tell us so (and tell other people about us too!)
Replacement window or door? Only if we can’t fix or recycle it!
Of course, we love selling new doors, windows and conservatories, and we’ll gladly replace items too (locks, blown double glazing and sealed units, broken glass, damaged conservatory guttering) whether you originally bought them from us or not.
But often you just need a minor fix to keep out the weather and the noise, and ensure your home continues to be secure. Or you need us to recycle a part that’s no longer in production to keep a handle, lock or hinge in good working order.
If we can fix it or recycle it, we will. If you need us to replace it, we will. And when you want us to supply you with the brand-new best, we will.
There - it’s as clear as glass!

Andy Harris, Director
Andy learnt doors and windows from his father, and he’s a self-confessed geek in the subject!
So if you’re bewildered by bifolds, confused by casements and can’t quite comprehend composite, he’s the man to take you through the options.
What you can be sure of is that the products he will recommend will deliver energy efficiency, noise reduction, security, and visual appeal – in fact, all the things that add comfort and value to your property!
But doors, windows and conservatories remain Andy’s first love – and, as he says, “If you cut me in two, not only would you see ‘doors and windows’ written all the way through me, you’d probably be able to tilt and turn me and close me halfway, too.”
Talk doors & windows with Andy
Paul, Senior Fitter
Paul looks like a doorman, but works like a craftsman.
This is partly because he served a carpenter’s apprenticeship and then worked his way up the ranks of Window Pains Stroud to the heights of Senior Fitter (we don’t give that position to just anybody!)
But it’s also because he has that one thing that all craftsmen have: a tool (in this case a hammer) that has moulded itself so closely to his grip, it has virtually become part of him. He wields it with the delicacy of a conductor leading an orchestra freehand, and the doors and windows obey.
When he’s not coaxing glass, UPVC and composite doors into beautifully fitted position, Paul leaves his gentle and approachable side in the office and goes and plays rugby for a few hours. (Without the hammer).
Angela, Office Manager
Windows, doors and conservatories might keep the guys busy, but it’s Angela (by Andy’s admission) who keeps them all in work!
Forever a friendly voice on the end of the line, Angela makes all the appointments but somehow also effortlessly runs the showroom, manages the invoicing, and occasionally returns the guys’ mislaid tools (although her most important tool, of course, is her phone.)
When the guys turn up at your house, on the right day, at the right time, with windows, frames and doors at the ready, it’s mostly down to Angela!
Brett, Trainee Fitter
Everybody has to start somewhere, but Brett had been working with the guys on and off for a while, so when he went full time he already knew he’d chosen the best!
Busy learning everything he possibly can about windows, bifolds and much more from Senior Fitter Paul, he’s also a dab hand with his favourite tool (the vacuum cleaner).
In fact, thanks to his thoroughness in leaving customers’ homes as clean as they were before Paul arrived, he’s become an essential element in Window Pains Stroud's customer experience strategy!
Amy, Administration and Customer Experience Support
Another key customer experience player is Amy.
Married to Director Andy, she’s immersed in the door and window industry (whether she likes it or not!) and when she steps in on Wednesdays to cover for Amy, she ensures the personal, friendly customer service continues seamlessly. (You could be speaking to Angela, you could be speaking to Amy – you’d hardly know the difference.)
Armed with her favourite tool – her laptop – Amy is also a great organiser and has made some important improvements to the way the office does business and communicates with its customers.
(But behind the scenes, she’s usually busy keeping the guys in line!)
